Southwick Rotary is challenging – a Barbecue/Chili Cook-off and a exclusive game against the Westfield Wheelmen vintage ball base team
February 9, 2008 …… The Southwick Rotary Club encourages civic clubs, organizations, private teams, restaurants, or individuals that have a favorite recipe to compete in the second annual cook-off scheduled for July 12th... The ultimate challenge is to have the best barbecue and chili in town.
The challenge will be for two entries – barbecue for a $100 fee and chili for a $50 fee. Local celebrities will judge the entries and cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. As the participation increases, more prizes will be considered.
As a special feature, the Club will also be looking for Southwick volunteers to take on the Westfield Wheelmen in accordance to the rules of 1861.
The application and guideline for the cook-off and vintage base ball competition will soon be available on the Club’s website - www.southwickrotary.org or through event chair Bob Fox at 413 569 5962.
The event, to be held at Southwick Recreation Center on Powder Mill Road, Southwick starting at 12:00 noon, is family oriented. Entertainment, food vendors, activities for children and raffle prizes will be included. Admission to the public is free.
Proceeds from the event will support community and youth-oriented Rotary projects.
