Southwick Rotary to sponsor a student to attend World Affairs Seminar

February 22, 2010 … The Southwick Rotary Club will sponsor one student from either Southwick-Tolland Regional High School or a student who is a resident of Southwick and attends an accredited high school or technical school outside of the Southwick school district, to attend the 33rd World Affairs Seminar from June 26 through July 2, 2010. The Seminar, titled “The Global Freshwater Challenge,” will be held at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Seminar fees, airfare and other travel expenses will be paid by Rotary.
Key features of the 2010 seminar include the exploration of cutting-edge topics in the areas of globalization, climate change, emerging water technologies, water privatization, global security and human rights.
The seminar is designed for students (ages of 16-18 years) that have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. The student/applicant must be in good academic standing and interested in global issues.
To apply, the student must complete an application in full. Selection will be based on an essay (minimum 400 words) regarding the student’s interest in global issues, their experiences and future interest as a possible college focus or future career.

Please mail the completed application with all of the necessary signatures and essay to Ellen Miles, Southwick Rotary Club, Box 701, Southwick, MA 01077. Deadline for the application is April 15th.
